Meanwhile, as temperatures gradually decline, laying rates and egg weights have essentially returned to normal levels, improving the egg supply structure, with large-grade egg supply gradually returning. Overall, there is no clear shortage of large-grade eggs, and structural supply-side contradictions have eased somewhat.

From the demand side, households still have some holiday reserves not yet fully consumed, so short-term purchasing willingness is insufficient, and terminal consumption performance is tepid. Supermarkets and agricultural markets have seen synchronized slowdowns in sales velocity, also primarily in the phase of digesting holiday inventory. New procurement demand has weakened notably, and channel restocking momentum is insufficient.

Overall, off-season consumption characteristics persist, while the supply increase from recovering laying rates and egg weights continues to be released. The supply-demand contradiction may further widen, and egg prices are likely to remain on the soft side.

On October 9, the Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) egg futures main contract 2611 opened at 3,751, with a high of 3,760, a low of 3,660, and a settlement price of 3,708, down 53/1.43%. Trading volume was 211,803 lots, with open interest at 135,878 lots.

According to data from Lenglianduoduo, the domestic egg spot price index on October 9 stood at 4.168, up 0.007 from the previous working day.
